Your doctor may order this test if they suspect that you have mononucleosis (infectious or kissing disease) based on your signs and symptoms. This test looks for antibodies that your body produces when you are infected with the EBV (Epstein-Barr Virus), which causes the disease.
This test is performed by collecting a sample of your urine and checking a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in the collected sample. HCG is present only if you are pregnant.
Strep throat is a bacterial infection, which makes your throat scratchy and sore. A sample will be collected by swabbing the back of your throat with a long cotton swab. The collected sample will be tested to determine whether a strep infection or any other germ or bacteria caused your sore throat.
Blood glucose tests can be either random or fasting tests. For a fasting test, you should not eat or drink anything except water for eight hours before your test. A blood sample will be collected and then tested for the blood glucose level.
This test measures the amount of hemoglobin in your blood. The provider may recommend this test to check your overall health or diagnose and monitor a medical condition. A blood sample is drawn from your fingertip and tested for the hemoglobin count.
We will provide a digital copy of your medical record to a specialist or other provider only with your written consent and under strict privacy guidelines. If you request, we can email or fax you a copy of your lab reports for a small fee through our HIPAA protected system for your record.
